FLAIRCK
perform at Closing Ceremony

On 25th July 1990 FLAIRCK (who are a band from Holland) performed a set of tunes at the Closing Ceremony of the World Championships for the Disabled held in Assen, Holland.

I thought the band would remind me of the 1970's group FOCUS (who also came from Holland, and had hits with HOCUS POCUS and SYLVIA), but in fact they were more like MIKE OLDFIELD.

The line-up of FLAIRCK at this time was:-

• SYLVIA HOUTZAGER - Violin
• PETER WEEKERS - Flutes
• STAN STOLK - Bass
• ERIK VISSER - Guitar

During the Closing Ceremony there was a Laser Light Show and later there were Fireworks.

I was at this event by virtue of the fact I had participated in the Swimming Events of the World Championships where I won a silver medal in the 50 metres freestyle event for CP Class 2 (pictured below with the Duncan Goodhew look).
